CHAPTER 4

SNOW GO

Batman and Robin sprang out of the Batmobile. The Mystery Inc. gang poured out of the Mystery Machine.

“What’s the plan?” Fred asked.

Batman pressed a button on his Utility Belt and two pairs of skis popped out of the Batmobile.

“It looks like you’ll have to wait here,” Robin replied as he and Batman locked their boots into the skis. “We’ll take care of the bad guys.”

“Not so fast,” Fred said as he ran to the back of the van. He pulled out a bunch of skis and poles. “Mystery Inc. is still on the case!”

As the gang strapped on their gear, Batman nodded in approval. “Prepared for everything,” he said. “Good work.”

Fred was giddy with excitement. “Wow, first Batman likes my trap and now this,” he whispered to the others. “How cool is that?!”

Velma rolled her eyes. “Don’t brag too much or I’ll tell Batman that you just forgot to unpack that stuff from our mystery on the slopes.”

“Nope,” Fred said. He grinned and shook his head. “You can’t ruin this moment for me, Velma.”

The gang followed the Dynamic Duo as they skied deeper into Gotham City. They weaved around snow-covered cars and delivery vans. The entire city looked like a winter wonderland.

SWISH!

Shaggy banked off a snow-covered fire hydrant. “Like, I bet you never thought we’d ski through a big city, huh, Scoob?”

Scooby-Doo shook his head. “Uh-uh.” He followed Shaggy on a special pair of skis with places for all four feet. The dog spread his skis wide as the fire hydrant went between his legs.

After some more twists and turns, the large building housing the ice rink came into view.

“Be ready for anything,” Batman warned.

“And above all, stay cool,” Robin joked.

As they neared the building, more than a dozen creepy hockey players poured out. They weren’t wearing ice skates anymore.

The goons slid toward the group atop skis of their own. They each held hockey sticks, ready to attack.
